There have been 14 major airplane crashes with a sole survivor in the history of commercial aviation. Most of the lone survivors -- like Bahia Bahari, survivor of the 2009 Yemenia crash -- are dealing with debilitating guilt that few can understand. These survivors have never met each other, until now. "Sole Survivor," written and directed by Ky Dickens, premieres on CNN on January 9, 2014.

Films like this allow survivors to "tell" their personal narrative, which is the most vital part of healing #SoleSurvivorFilm@CNNFilms

Jim Polehinke was in a coma for months after the Comair 5191 disaster. It was uncertain, for weeks, whether he'd live. #solesurvivorfilm

Is there a reason why the other survivors listed in the beginning of the film never made it to the film? Do we know anything about them/ #SoleSurvivorFilm #CNN
My son never ever felt he was going to die and he feels that was a factor in his survival.....he also had a spirit with him that had died in the same cove .......now that I know because of his talk right after the accident in the hospital he talked of this man that had saved him and when we called to find him we found out that man had died in the cove years before. In fact the cove the helo landed in was named after him......He told me that day that the vibration was enough to kill you but he never thought he would die......he just went with it..the spirit, ghost what ever you call it was with him all the way..they figured he went into the water at 175 mph....... into 18 feet of water!! and survived the unsurvivable accident

I could not imagine trying to survive any of these events in the hours after. But shark infested waters and at night to boot. Wow!

"I first realized I was the only person to survive, I was in middle school. I felt angry, survivor's guilt. Why me?" #SoleSurvivorFilm
My patient was identified from the dental X-rays I took. I remember the coroner coming by the office to get them after the Comair flight went down in Lexington, knew of two soles on that flight.
#SoleSurvivorFilm It is common that sole survivors of plane crashes don't want to be in the public eye.

I remember my mother telling me about Cecelia when I was real little. I remember her telling me the distinct fact that she was identified by purple nail polish. #SoleSurvivorFilm #CNN

Each time I've flown around Metro Airport, I've always looked for the crash site. I was 2 years old when it happened, and am constantly reminded of it. Since my emergency landing, each time I fly for vacation, I always, always, always close my eyes on landing and wait for that moment to land on the pavement. Always closing my eyes on take-off, too! #Terrifiedstill11yearslater #SoleSurvivorFilm #CNN
